Dr. Oleg Drut Explains: All About Invisalign
My name is Dr. Oleg Drut and I am the Clinical Director at Diamond Braces. Here I will be talking about the do’s and dont’s of Invisalign treatment and answering some of the most common questions that my office staff and I are frequently asked.
Remember, when considering Invisalign or any other clear aligners, it is important to understand that the aligners alone will not fix your teeth. Invisalign is just a tool in the hands of an experienced doctor. Only experienced doctors can successfully treat cases with Invisalign. Your doctor, and not Invisalign, is responsible for any good or bad outcomes and your satisfaction. That applies only to those cases where the patient complies with the doctor’s instructions. The treatment success depends not just on a doctor, but on the patient’s compliance as well. Without good compliance, Invisalign is not a good choice for you.
The best way to choose a provider is to visit the official Invisalign website and to enter your zip code. You will be given the list of providers, ranking from the highest to the lowest experience. Choose the ones with the highest experience and preferably an orthodontist and not a general dentist. Always seek second opinions. Most of the time, those consultations are free of charge and you should not be paying for them.
Orthodontists have an advanced education when compared to regular dentists. That is why it is better to choose a doctor who specializes in orthodontics only.
Always discuss the retention protocol after the treatment. Remember, it is not about making your teeth straight, it is about keeping them straight for a long time. You do not want to waste your hard-earned money and have crowded and misaligned teeth only a few months after treatment is completed.
Permanent retainers, in most cases, are better than removable retainers. Make sure retainer prices are included in the total treatment cost to avoid any surprises. In addition, make sure refinement prices are included in the total. If you do need some braces during the treatment, which sometimes are necessary with Invisalign for the best results, make sure you do not have to pay extra.
If you need a second opinion, please come and bring any records you have to discuss your concerns and questions. Or you can get a virtual consultation to obtain a second opinion without leaving your home. If you were ever told by your general dentist or another orthodontist that you are not a good candidate for treatment with clear aligners, visit any of our Diamond Braces locations to gain more knowledge and peace of mind about your treatment options. You have nothing to lose by getting a consultation, but you could potentially gain the confident smile you’ve always wanted!
Most of our patients’ questions are answered in the comprehensive Invisalign FAQ section or you can read some of our commonly asked questions below. What is Invisalign?
Ever wonder what exactly Invisalign is and how it works? Find out what makes Invisalign different from other orthodontic treatments and discover some advantages and disadvantages of wearing Invisalign.
What does Invisalign treat?
Invisalign works only when your treating doctor knows what he or she is doing. It is just a tool that works when used in experienced hands. When your doctor has good experience, most of the orthodontic issues could be successfully treated by using Invisalign technology. These problems include gaps, crowding, overbites, overjets and crossbites. Whether your case is mild or severe, chances are an experienced Invisalign orthodontist can correct your problems. Remember, Invisalign does not fix your teeth, your doctor does!
How much does Invisalign cost?
The cost of Invisalign varies based on your personal circumstances. Both the severity of your problems and the length of time it will take to treat them will affect the cost. Only after examining your teeth will the doctor be able to tell you the exact cost of treatment. Some insurance providers may pay for Invisalign. Our staff can also go over other payment options, including interest-free financing from Care Credit.
Does Invisalign really work?
Yes, this treatment method works! Invisalign is an amazing orthodontic treatment for those averse to wearing metal braces. Invisalign works similarly to traditional metal braces by shifting the teeth into proper alignment. Unlike metal braces, you won’t cut yourself on wires or brackets and you can eat nearly anything. Treatment time for Invisalign is about the same as metal braces and, in some cases, may be shorter.
